DIY Foot Care Is Easy With Homemade Foot Soak Recipes
There is something about soaking one’s feet in warm, salty water after a long day that makes the rest of the world just fall away. At Premier Foot and Ankle, we know how to help you keep your feet healthy and happy. One of the best ways we know of to keep them happy is with a little DIY foot care in the form of a good soak. We have a couple of tried-and-true recipes for homemade foot baths we would like to share that are easy and inexpensive to make. Most of the ingredients can be found at the local grocery or pharmacy.
Lime-Peppermint Salt Soak
You will need: 2 cups Epsom Salts, 1/2 cup Baking Soda, the zest of 1 Lime, 3-4 drops Peppermint Oil.
To make the soak: combine ingredients and add to a quantity of warm water large enough to submerge your feet (about 2 quarts). Feel your whole body relax and rejuvenate.
Eucalyptus, Honey, and Camphor Soak
You will need: 1 cup Honey, 2 cups Epsom Salts, 6 drops Eucalyptus Oil, 4 drops Camphor Oil (or 2 teaspoons Camphor Gel or Cream), 4 drops Arnica Oil.
To make the soak: whisk or blend all ingredients and add to 2 quarts warm water. Submerge feet and commence to make aahhh sounds. This soak may contribute to both DIY foot care and sinus health if you breathe it in, too.
Epsom salts contain magnesium sulfate which aids with relaxation and detoxification. The skin absorbs the minerals, which then help to relieve joint and muscle pain. Epsom salts also have anti-bacterial and anti- fungal properties, making it a natural choice for a DIY foot care soak.
